Information for New Students

Welcome to Gable Middle School! 

We are so glad to have you as part of our school family. On this page, you will find helpful information suited for new families to the school and district. As always, if you have additional questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us (864) 576-3500.

Enrollment: 

  • Timeline:
    • Registration opens in July for the following school year.
    • We hold a Meet the Teacher day a week before school starts.
  • All parents of students new to District 6, or returning after a year or more, must complete enrollment through the Student Enrollment Dashboard.
    • Please include: your student’s birth certificate, immunization records, and a Proof of Residency (property tax receipt, deed to the property, rental receipt, or affidavit [if you and your student are living with relatives or otherwise and not at your own property])
    • Once the enrollment form is submitted, we will reach out for records from your student’s previous school. We must receive all records and necessary documents mentioned above prior to enrolling your student. A counselor will reach out to you if anything is missing and/or when your student is eligible to start.
  • Families must register/indicate whether their student is returning every year using their SnapCode.

Spartanburg District Six App:

  • This is a helpful App that you can add on your phone which includes notifications of school closings (i.e. due to weather), and links to lunch menus, PowerSchool, the District Calendar, School Facebook and Instagram, and more.  

Student Handbook: 

  • Available here; student’s will also a receive a planner with this information included.

Chromebooks: 

  • Each student enrolled in District 6 is issued a school Chromebook and charger. Students receive these on their first day of school, and return them upon graduation or withdrawal from the district. Please note that there are fees associated with lost chargers and repairs (see Student Handbook for more information). 

PowerSchool:

  • PowerSchool is a platform used for students and parents to view their students' grades. Students log in with their student ID, and create a private password.
  • Parents can create and link an account to multiple students in the district following these instructions.

Breakfast & Lunch: 

  • Free for all students this year (2023-2024)
  • Snacks such as chips, cookies, and sparkling fruit drinks can be purchased for extra, either through a Meal account or with cash.

Sports:

  • 7th and 8th grade students with a current physical on file are eligible to try out for sports. Tryouts are announced at school seasonally. Additional information can be found here.

504s and IEPs:

  • If your student has a 504 plan or an IEP, please make sure to make note of this in the enrollment form.
    • For questions about 504s/IEPs, please contact the School Counselor assigned to your student.
