"I would like to nominate Mrs. Donna Cowan as our 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Cowan is a model teacher who strives to provide differentiated instruction to accommodate for the multiple learning styles that are presented in a typical classroom. She excels at providing support for students who require scaffolding as well. If you were to enter into Mrs. Cowan’s classroom, you would most likely see learning centers where students are working on mastering individual skills while given the opportunity for small group instruction. Mrs. Cowan also works well with our co-teach model that provides support for struggling learners. Her lessons integrate technology and a variety of teaching strategies including manipulatives, games, and individualized learning. I have known her to arrive early to meet the specific needs of students and she has been willing to stay late when a student asks for extra help on a skill. Mrs. Cowan is also the type of teacher everyone hopes to have on their team because she will help outside of the classroom as well.
